Park Adventures

Since I work the next three days I'm sure I won't be taking pictures or on the computer, so I wanted to get one more post in for the week! Hopefully I can finish before the end of Claire's nap!
We spent a couple hours at the park yesterday morning, like most days, but I got a bunch of cute pictures to share!
First we were so excited to see that there was a baby swing added to the Tiffin park since we were last there, Claire loves to swing!!


Hannah can now climb across the swinging step things by herself, which she was really proud of! (She did her hair herself, I tried telling her the purple flowers looked like horns, but she likes it that way!)



We stuck Claire on a blanket in the shade while we snapped a couple pictures of Hannah in the "beautiful flowers"!







While we were doing that, Claire was having fun digging a whole into the mud under the wood chips by her blanket, she had a whole pile of wood chips in her lap! Little stinker!



And Hannah was just looking extra pretty right before we left!

Kite flying fun

Yesterday afternoon was windy, the perfect weather for flying a kite, and Hannah couldn't wait to get hers up in the air!

Claire cheered her on from her walker in the driveway. She was all over the driveway in that thing yesterday!!

Breakfast in the park

When it starts getting too hot and sunny in the afternoon, we head out to the park first thing in the morning while it's still cool. Hannah was thrilled to have breakfast in the park the other morning, sure it was just doughnuts and juice, not the healthiest of breakfasts, but it was fun!


We had fun playing too!

Eye of the beholder

Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. Some people look at a yard filled with dandelions and see only weeds ruining the green lawn, but ask Hannah and she'll tell you they're precious beautiful flowers! She's been spending a lot of time making bouquets lately, filling vases with water and using the flowers as a "centerpiece" for our table! She was so mad when I wouldn't buy flowers at the grocery store the other day yelling, "Mom, we never have a centerpiece!" That girl is a Martha Stewart clone, but she's perfectly happy to have her centerpiece made out of dandelions, and that makes me happy too!

The other fun thing about dandelions in making wishes when they go to seed. On our walk to the park the other day, Hannah picked a dandelion and as she blew out the seeds she said,
"I wish I could marry a boy when I'm only 4."
So I said, "I hope that doesn't come true, because there is no way Daddy and I will let you get married when you're 4."
And Hannah says "Well mom, we'll just have to see about that!"
Little stinker, she is so wedding obsessed!

Favorites!

Just had to share a couple of my recent favorite shots of my babies, Hannah has total fake smiles latley, and Claire has a crusty nose, but I still can't help following them around with the camera! Man, I love these girls!!

School Pictures

We just got Hannah's school pictures back and they turned out adorable! They shot some cap & gown pictures for her preschool graduation which had me near tears! She is growing up so fast, I can't even believe she is almost 5 years old, time just won't slow down!

She didn't smile in the class photo, but insisted we get it anyway, a shot of all her friends!

Colored Eggs

I love holiday traditions, and look forward every year to my favorite parts of each season. We always color eggs the night before Easter with my family. The fact that we had to move our Easter celebration back a couple weeks didn't stop us from getting together, dying eggs, getting present filled baskets, and sharing a wonderful dinner!

It only took Claire about 1.2 seconds to dump a bowl of egg dye all over herself and the table, and she cracked her egg within seconds of me handing it to her, but she was excited to be included in the festivities!


Hannah is quite the egg artist, but she paused in her creating to try one of her eggs. She said it was good, but only took one bite!

VEISHEA

One of my many memories of growing up in Ames is ISU's annual VEISHEA celebration! The parade stands out the most, with the Greek houses making floats that would awe and amaze, and a bag filled with candy and treats thrown from the parade as it passed! I couldn't wait to get back to Ames and take my girls to the parade this year! There weren't as many hand-made floats as I remember growing up, but the few that were included were worth the trip! The parade was fun, we came out a little sun-burned, but it was worth it!!
